There will be a mihi whakatau on Tuesday 6 November to welcome all the new students and teachers to Kilbirnie School. A mihi whakatau is a traditional Maori welcoming ceremony that has as intention the coming together of two groups to unite as one. It has some of the same elements of a powhiri however it is less formal and appropriately used outside of a marae.
