Level 1 message from the Principal

Kia ora koutou,
Today is the first school day under Covid Alert level 1. The contact tracing registers are no longer required and have been removed. The Ministry of Health has provided us with a specific Kilbirnie School QR code that can be used in conjunction with their NZ Covid Tracer app. We have placed this QR code around the school for those whānau that wish to use this to track their own personal movements. Parents and whānau are now able to come and go from the school site in the morning and afternoon without signing in and out, at any other time of the day, parents must sign in through the Vistab digital sign-in system at the main reception. Students who are late should also use the Vistab.
For the remainder of this week we will continue to have staff at the school entrances in the morning and afternoon. It may well be that many parents continue to farewell students at the gates and allow them to walk to class from there, this has worked well. Since we returned to school we have appreciated the support of our community in ensuring that students were not at school before 8.30am. It is important that this support continues, teachers are not able to supervise students before this time.
The Ngake (junior) hub staff will email their whānau separately tomorrow and I will provide another update on school operations under level 1 in the school newsletter this Friday.
Regards
Tony Austin
